We’d had grand plans of a winter picnic in Kuitpo Forest, a whole bunch of us, a little bonfire and rain boots and all rugged up. But it was a sunny day and a few couldn’t make it, and so the day changed just like that. Some of us ended up down the coast at Aldinga, sitting on the deck at Ehren and Soph’s drinking champagne and then braving cold, bare-feet for a very silvery-grey late walk along the empty beach. I’d already made these cardamom doughnut-ish tea cakes from the SQIRL cookbook which are easy and SO VERY GOOD, and we worked our way through those and laughed and caught up on things. It’s been a big few months, but thing always feel the same with this team, always just as good.
