The day started grey and wet and in spite of a fresh loaf of bread in the oven, I was having trouble settling into my Sunday. We had friends visiting from NYC and were hoping for a little more sun and a little more cheer for their last day here. In an effort to make our own sun, we headed to Kitchen by Mike for roast pork with crackling and mountains of amazing salad. There was blood orange and raddichio, a mirin and cucumber with black sesame, and an apple and cabbage with buttermilk dressing, which I couldn't for the life of me get enough of. The cauliflower gratin was a whole other world.

The sun came out in the afternoon and gave us time for a run in the park and, in my case, a sweet little nap. I was super happy that we even found time to play with my new camera. My friend Jon is a director by trade (this one I love), and someone whose photographs I have always admired. He has a much fancier camera than mine, but was kind enough to sit down with me for an hour or so and take me through all the settings and options that I had thus far been muddling through. It was brilliant to get a better feel for things and I have grand hopes of lifting my game when it comes to the pictures I post here...
