I came across the work of artist Simone Shubuck just last week and am a bit in love. It is work that seems to me bursting with colour, with light, with life and with detail (and we all know I'm one for detail). There's a sense of layered ideas and it's oh so bold. I love the composition and the feeling that it's ok for things to be a bit of a mess. That it's beautiful, actually.
Her exhibition is showing at Taylor De Cordoba, a California gallery I've been following but missed visiting when I was last in LA. It's called Do You Like Old Things or New Things That Look Old? which I think in itself is wonderful.
